The Imo state police command has stepped up to say that contrary to the news on many media outfits, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was arrested by their men.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Imo State, CSP Michael Abattam, the state command is aware of the arrest, adding that the former Action Alliance Gubernatorial Candidate is presently in Police custody.
“This is to inform the general public that chief Uche Nwosu was not kidnapped but was arrested by the police and Imo state police command is aware of the arrest and presently he is in police custody.”
This is to refute the earlier news that has being making rounds on social media that he was kidnapped by unknown persons / gunmen”
The Commissioner of Police while using this medium to assure imolites of the command’s commitment in ensuring the safety of Life and prosperity this yuletide seasons , adviced the general public to always shun fake news.
The release failed to state why the Nkwerre born politician was arrested as well as why he was arrested in that manner like a criminal.
Eye witness said Uche Nwosu was bundled into the trunk of vehicle by his abductors who have now turned to be security agents.
Gun shots were heard in viral videos as the security agents made away with the former Imo State Commissioner and Chief of Staff who is also the son-in-law of Senator Rochas Okorocha.
Before the arrest, Uche Nwosu was pictured with his family at St. Peters Anglican Church Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
Another video showed people panicking and running from the church, causing public outcry as to why trained security agents will conduct such arrest in a public place.
The police is still holding firm to not saying why he was arrested, while a section of the public are saying that the arrest was conducted by Imo State Government House Security agents.
