Amidst the ravaging Coronavirus otherwise called Covid-19, a United States based renowned philanthropist, Dr. Livinus Iwuozo Obilo has distributed food items worth millions of Niara to his people of Umuchieze Obollo in Isiala Mbano council area of Imo State.
The gesture according to the international medical practitioner and consultant is to assist the people cushion the effects of the hardship caused by measures taken to combat the novel pandemic in the state and Nigeria in general.
Presenting the items to the people on his behalf, yesterday, his younger brother, Hon. Francis Obilo said the gesture was line with Dr. Obilo’s continued demonstration of genuine concern for the overall well-being of his people.
He appealed to the villagers to accept the food items in good faith and urged their leaders to ensure that everyone of them especially the destitute, poor, widows, and orphans among them get reasonable portions.
He equally asked them to adhere strictly to the precautionary measures against the virus and also intensify their prayers for God to intervene over the disease.
He finally appealed to them to also put the donor and his family in their prayers so that God will continue to preserve them and grant them the enablements to always remember them whenever the need arises.
Responding on behalf of the people, Mr. Goddy Nwudo, Chairman of the village, applauded Dr. Obilo for his magnanimity and prayed God to continue to bless him.
He assured that the items will be equitably distributed across the 7 kindreds that made up the village and appeal to other well-meaning and wealthy sons and daughters of the village to emulate Dr. Obilo.
Also, speaking to our reporter, some of the beneficiaries of the gesture, Mrs. Helen Osuji, Mrs. Bethel Onyenezide, James Njoku, among others showered encomiums on Dr. Obilo, while also praying for the end of Corona virus.
Dr. Obilo is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Healthcare Foundation and a retired General in the US Army.
