Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has received 1991 valid votes to win Abia State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Ticket for 2019 election.
The returning officer, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, announced the result after the delegate election of the party held in Umuahia Township Stadium.
Speaking after the result was announced, Governor Ikpeazu thanked God, the people of Abia State and members of PDP for the confidence reposed on him to fly the flag of the party a second time.
Assuring members of the party of resounding victory in 2019, Governor Ikpeazu pledged to continue to work for the development of the state with renewed focus on the five pillars of his administration: Education, SME development, Agriculture, Industry and Oil & Gas.
He called on Abians to continue to pray for and support his administration as, according to him, the state has turned a positive corner and will never go back.
Dr Ikpeazu who enumerated the achievements of his administration in education, agriculture, security, health, SME development and industry vowed to create 60,000 new jobs within the next 2 years.
2207 ballots were issued during the poll with 23 votes voided out of a total 2350 registered delegates from the 17 LGAs of the state.
