During a two-day dialogue with United Nation’s Children Fund (UNICEF) and Child’s Rights Bureau (CRIB) of the Federal Ministry of Information held at Tahir Guest Palace Hotel in Kano State, media practitioners have been intimated on the need to create space for children on their various platforms.
Internet has proven to be one of the most powerful tools for dissemination of information with over 98million users. It is our moral obligation to create and maintain an enabling environment that will influence legislation, opinions, mobilize resources for children, raise public awareness and also hold the society accountable.
Children should be given a space for participation, play and freedom of expression. Bloggers/Online journalists are therefore enjoined to collectively create space for advocacy for Child rights like a right to survival education and protection.
We are all duty bearers and to advocate for children should be our utmost priority. Start today to mobilize support for the rights of children as they are our future leaders.
