The member representing Owerri Federal Constituency and 2019 Owerri Zone Senatorial hopeful, Rt. Hon. Ezenwa Onyewuchi has noted with anger, the wanton destruction of the sources of livelihood and forceful eviction of innocent Imolites from their business places within the Owerri Metropolis.
Hon. Onyewuchi is more furious on the reports of deployment of cultists and armed thugs by the government to achieve their ill conceived purpose, without recourse to due process and dialogue. He wondered when Governor Okorocha brutish style of governance will abate and asked him to stop further intimidation and engage the relevant stakeholders in dialogue for a peaceful resolution of the crisis.
“We cannot continue like this for Christ’s sake. Governor Okorocha should realize that power is transient. He will definitely leave by May, 29th, 2019 and I wonder what he wants to be remembered for. The pain, anguish and hopelessness he has caused the citizens and residents are too much to be ignored and I dare say, enough is enough” He said.
He challenged the Nigeria Police, the Civil Defense Corps and other relevant security agencies in the state to act quickly in order to restore normalcy and ensure free flow of economic activities and vehicular movement in the city.
The Chairman, House Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity urged the displaced business owners not to take laws into their hands and assured of his solidarity and support to their predicament.
