Imo State University Owerri holds Induction/Oath Taking Ceremony of Her Optometrist Graduates

Imo State University Owerri held the 14th Induction/Oath Taking Ceremony of Her Optometrist graduates on November 22nd, 2019.

The Head of Optometry Department, Prof Frank Iwuagwu during his address, welcomed all the guests to the yearly ritual of Induction ceremony of their new Graduands into the noble profession.

Prof Frank described the Inductees as beetle, stubbornly unyielding, very tenacious, diligent, preserving and inexhaustible while urging them to remain good ambassadors of the department and the profession in general.

Dean of Health Sciences, Prof Harrison Nwanjo, congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to have positive attitude towards professional ethics.

Speaking, Prof Harrison thanked the Vice Chancellor, Prof Adaobi Obasi for her special effort and interest in the Faculty of Health Sciences which cumulated to the full accreditation of the Optometry Programme by the Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria and also full accreditation of all the programmes in the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The Registrar of Optometrist and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria (ODORBN) Prof Ebele Uzodike and her team administered the oath to the Inductees and urged them to adhere strictly to the rules guiding the Profession.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Adaobi Victoria Obasi thanked the Lecturers, appreciated the Inductees and the Parents/Guardians for providing for the Graduands with the necessary support.

Prof Adaobi concluded by urging the Graduands to remain good ambassadors of the Institution.

Prof Nkwam Uwaoma (DVC Academics), Mrs Rosekate Ogbu (Ag Registrar), Dr Emeka Uchendu (Librarian) and other high profile scholars were also present in the ceremony.
