Tambuwal declares support for Emeka Ihedioha, Says Imo will rise again

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has declared his support for the governorship ambition of Emeka Ihedioha, who is seeking the PDP gubernatorial ticket in Imo ahead of 2019.

He described Ihedioha as a loyal friend and brother who would help transform the fortunes of Imo people.

Recall that Ihedioha was Deputy Speaker while Aminu Tambuwal was Speaker of the 7th House of Representatives.

Tambuwal declared his support at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri while on his way to Abia State for consultation on his bid to win the 2019 presidential ticket of the PDP.

The presidential aspirant, who was received at the airport by PDP leaders in Imo, said, “as you continue to give my friend and brother all the necessary support and backing, I can assure you by the grace of God, you will not regret it.

“He is one man, I have absolute confidence that, by the time he assumes the mantle of leadership in Imo State, Imo shall definitely rise again.”

The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is backing his Chief of Staff and son-in-law, Uche Nwosu to succeed him.

On his presidential ambition, Tambuwal said, “By the grace of God, we shall continue to work together for a better country. This country has the potential of being the greatest country on the continent of Africa; the greatest country for the black people. We have no reason whatsoever, in this 21st century, not to be able to realise our destiny.”

Earlier, Ihedioha expressed Hus delight at receiving his former boss and assured him that the state would remain a natural home for him.

“We are delighted to have you in our midst today. You are one of us and we appreciate you profoundly,” he said.

Others believed to be interested in picking up the presidential ticket of the PDP include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar; former Kano Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; former Jigawa Governor, Sule Lamido; former Kaduna Governor, Ahmed Makarfi; and Gombe Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo.
