The 17th edition of Miss Niger Delta Peace Cultural Pageant was held in Imo Trade and Investment center, Owerri on 21st July, 2018.
The event which was slated to begin with red carpet by 5pm and show 6pm was a bit delayed due to some unforeseen circumstances.
The decoration of the event center was top notch which left some invitees stunned. It was an amazing transformation.
Here are my highlights of the event:
The amazing performances of the artists especially Mercy Chinwo which turned out to be not only a performance but also ministration. The atmosphere changed and some of the invitees couldn’t hold back their emotions.
Timaya’s performance which was fun filled. It had everyone on his/her feet dancing.
The arrival of contestants on the stage with their cultural outfits representing the 9 Niger Delta states. The display had an impeccable quality and depicted oneness.
The crowning of the Queen which was filled with a lot of expectations and tension. From their stage performances, I had a contestant in mind who was likely to win but when Miss Gina was surprisingly crowned, it dawned on me that on-stage performances had only 40% while camp activities had 60%.
My lowlights of the event,
It was an amazing event but as they would say, nothing is perfect.
During the crowning of the Queen, when everyone was standing and tensed, power was interrupted. The total blackout which lasted up to 8mins was really distasteful.
Then finally, the coldness in response from the invitees. The hosts had to go extra miles to carry the invitees along with the repeated shouting of ‘ Owerri are you ready’. The positive vibes from invitees during an event adds grace and flavour.
I want to thank the Organizers and Judges of this event for their prudence. This organization has proven to be honorable and as such, gained my loyalty.
To my fellow media team members, let’s keep engaging and connecting with our audiences.
Thank you all.
